Applying Procedure

Students must apply online by completing the Online Application Form . Many of the materials may be uploaded via our online application system, Apply Yourself. Applicants may also choose to send by mail or fax application materials. Do not send attachments by email. Application materials that do not meet the requirements listed below will not be accepted.

  • One letter of recommendation from a professor or Dean: Letters should be one page only, typed on letterhead and have the name, address, telephone number, email (if available) and signature of the author. All recommendations are subject to verification.
  • An official transcript in English: From your home university indicating the courses you have taken and the grades you received in each course. The transcript must be stamped with an official seal. If there is a translation with the transcript, it must include the seal or signature of the official translator. Graduate students (Master's or PhD degrees) must include their undergraduate transcripts.
  • Resume or curriculum vitae: Typed, one-page document outlining work, academic, and leadership experience. A resume or CV must be in an outline format with at least the following headings: Education, Work Experience, and Activities. To view a proper format, please click here.
  • A typed essay not to exceed 500 words on the following topic: Describe an economic or political problem facing your country and how would you solve it as a leader.
  • A typed essay not to exceed 500 words stating your reasons for applying, what would you gain by attending and how you could contribute to the Institute.
  • Proof of English Proficiency: Non-native speakers of English must provide at least one of the following three items:
    • TOEFL or IELTS Score: Please enclose a copy of the Examinee's Score Record.
    • Official certificate of English proficiency.
    • Letter from a professor of English stating your level of spoken and written English, including that person's ability to verify your English proficiency. This letter must include the name, address and telephone number of the person writing the letter.
