To be considered for admission, one must submit the Online Application Form and the remaining application requirements listed below via our online application system
Apply Yourself, mail or by fax before the application deadlines. All faxes must have a cover page with the student's name listed on each page.
The Fund for American Studies is not responsible for incomplete applications. Material received after the application deadline will not be accepted. Do not send attachments by email. Application materials that do not meet the requirements listed below will not be accepted .
- One letter of recommendation: The letter can be from someone who knows you well and a respected/ law abiding member of society. The letter should be a maximum of one page, typed on letterhead and have the name, address, email
(if available) and signature of the author. All recommendations are
subject to verification.
- An official transcript in English: From your home
university indicating the courses you have taken and the grades you received
in each course. The transcript must be stamped with an official seal.
If there is a translation with the transcript, it must include the seal or
signature of the official translator. Graduate students (Masters or
PhD degrees) must include their undergraduate transcripts. You can send these to The Fund for American Studies as an email attachment provided it is scanned and verified by home university.
- Resume or curriculum vitae: Typed, one-page document
outlining work, academic, and leadership experience. A resume or CV
must be in an outline format with at least the following headings: Education,
Work Experience, and Activities. Click

- A typed statement-of-purpose not to exceed 500
words stating your reasons for applying to the
Institute, and what you would like to gain by attending.
- A typed essay not to exceed 500 words on the following
topic: Describe one economic or one political problem facing your country,
and how would you solve it as a leader. Use examples to support your ideas.
- Proof of English proficiency: Non native speakers
of English must provide at least one of the following three items:
- TOEFL or IELTS Score: (Please enclose a copy of the Examinee's Score
Record.)
- Official certificate of English proficiency.
- Letter from an English professor stating your level of spoken and written
English, including that person's ability to verify your English proficiency.
This letter must include the name, address and telephone number of the
person writing the letter.
