LIFE IN PRAGUE

Housing & Location

Classes are conducted in the Faculty of Social Sciences Building of Charles University near historic Wenceslas Square in the center of Prague - site of historic protests during the Prague Spring of 1968 and the 1989 Velvet Revolution.  The building has been recently renovated, and contains state-of-the-art facilities. The address is Opletalova 26, 110 00, Prague 1, Czech Republic.

Students will be housed in a Charles Technical University dormitory.  Rooms are apartment style suites. Each apartment will sleep 6 students sharing one bathroom. Each bedroom contains 2 single beds. The name of the dormitory is Masarykova Kolej and the address isThakurova 1, 160 41, Prague 6 Czech Republic.

The Fund for American Studies will assign roommates. In order to promote cross-cultural exchange, roommates will be assigned so that students from the same country are not rooming together. Students who smoke are asked to limit their smoking to areas outside their room unless roommates give permission to smoke in the room.

Meals will include breakfast and dinner, served in the dining hall at the dormitory.  Meal selections will include alternatives for students with special dietary requirements (kosher, vegetarian, etc.) due to religion and/or lifestyle.  Students will have to provide their own lunches.  A variety of dining options surround the Institute's classroom building near Wenceslas Square.
