Special Events

As an EJI participant, you will also be afforded exclusive opportunities to attend special events around the city of Prague. Students look forward to select briefings which take place at Prague Castle and the headquarters of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and several exciting social events.

Tour of Prague Castle

A highlight for many institute participants is a tour of the official state rooms at Prague Castle. Prague Castle is a sprawling complex situated atop a large hill on the left bank of the Vltava River, which runs through old town Prague. Originally built in the 9th century as a Royal Palace, today Prague Castle is the seat of the President of the Czech Republic and serves as the historical and political center of the city and state.

Transitional Workshop at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty

On 16 July 2005, EJI students joined the AIPES students for a transitional workshop featuring Mart Laar, former PM of Estonia, Jan Bielecki, former PM of Poland, Ivan Miklos, Finance Minister and deputy PM of the Slovak Republic, and Martin Jahn, deputy PM of the Czech Republic. These esteemed leaders discussed their personal and professional challenges and successes they have faced leading their people from a communist regime to democracy.

Social Events

Students are often brought together to socialize and interact with one another. Participants look forward to special dinners and celebrations. Special events include a traditional Czech pub dinner, “Happy Hour” events, and a graduation party. These social events facilitate the friendship making process that extends the TFAS alumni network.
