ADMISSIONSAdmissions Policies
IIPES seeks university students who have demonstrated leadership potential
and a commitment to political and economic liberty, regional cooperation and cultural
exchange. Students should be currently enrolled at a university in either an undergraduate
or graduate program of study, although recent graduates will be considered as well.
Applicants from Eastern Mediterranean region will be given priority in the admissions process, although TFAS will review applications from outside the region as well. Please email Brigit Moore with any questions about eligibility.
Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis - applications are reviewed as
they are received. Applications will not be reviewed until all application requirements
are submitted. The application process is competitive, and students are encouraged
to apply early. Applications received by the early admission deadline of January
31, 2012 will receive preference in admission and scholarship decisions. The final
deadline is March 15, 2012. Application materials received after the final deadline
will not be accepted.
Students admitted to the program are expected to participate fully, which means
attending all classes and lectures as well as spending time getting to know students
from other countries. Individuals not enrolled in the program may not attend Institute
events or stay in accommodations assigned by The Fund for American Studies. The
Institute discourages long-distance travel and visits by friends or relatives
during the program. As the Institute is very intense, the program will occupy
all of the participants' time.
Students admitted to the program who are unable to attend the Institute are not
guaranteed a place in the program the following year. Students who reapply may
use previously submitted references. All other material, however, should be resubmitted
with appropriate updates.
Courses are conducted in English; therefore, proficiency in English is required
for non-native English speakers. Admissions decisions are based upon academic
record, extracurricular achievements, leadership qualities, work experience, and
English language ability. |
