Special Events
As an ILA participant, you will take part in numerous excursions to enjoy the history, heritage and natural beauty of Chile. Students can also look forward to attending political and economic courses taught by some of the finest professors from the U.S. and Chile. While also in the classroom, participants will have the opportunity to listen to guest lectures given by a wide array of speakers who excel in their respective industries.

Tours
ILA participants will enjoy a tour of historic downtown Santiago, as well as a trip to beautiful Valparaiso, the coastal city that is home to Chile's national assembly. While in Valparaiso, ILA participants are given a guided tour of Chile's seat of government, as well as the opportunity to visit the city's bustling shoreline, where shops and restaurants overlook the Pacific Ocean. Over the course of the ILA program, students will have many opportunities to see the sights and sounds that make Chile such a special place.
Social Events
Throughout the summer, students are brought together to socialize and interact with one another. Participants can look forward to weekend excursions, special dinners, and celebrations.
Chilean Asado (Barbecue): At University of the Andes, ILA participants will have a chance to enjoy a Chilean "asado," or barbecue, that features authentic Chilean food and folk dancing, giving students a chance to experience the country's culture and history with fellow students. This event allows the students to interact with staff, university personnel and fellow students, and to begin forging friendships with the other participants of the program.
