COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PLANNING: SUMMER 2022


The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is committed to providing engaging programs while maintaining the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and the local community. TFAS is currently and will continue to follow all local jurisdictions’ public health guidance on mask-wearing, social distancing, and in-person gathering restrictions. TFAS will also follow all guidelines provided by our academic and housing partners as outlined below. 


Entry to the Czech Republic Summarized (last updated November 16, 2021)
  1. Individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with vaccines recognized by the EU/WHO, can enter the Czech Republic as a tourist in accordance with the rules set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  1. If you are not vaccinated the following applies: 
  1. If you are a EU national, have permanent residence in the Czech Republic and similar cases, you can enter the Czech Republic but depending on the transmission level of the country you are entering from (green, yellow, orange, red) there are test requirements before and after arrival and quarantine requirements. (Part A of the scheme) 
  1. If you are a third country national, i.e. not an EU or permanent resident, you cannot enter the country unless you have a work or study visa, are a diplomat, there is an emergency situation, or you have a family member from the Czech Republic or EU, etc. (Part B of the scheme) 
  1. Unvaccinated participants will need to arrive earlier to Prague to account for their period of quarantine before the start of the program. Cost of accommodation outside of the program dates is the responsibility of the participant.

TFAS Prague | Charles University

In-person class meetings and lectures will be held at the campus of our academic partner Charles University. TFAS will follow all guidelines outlined in Charles University’s Coronavirus Guidelines and Information Page. Charles’ safety strategies include: 

  • Face Coverings: All faculty, staff, students, guests, vendors, and visitors must wear face coverings in university buildings, though not during class if seated or teaching and fully vaccinated. 
  • COVID Testing Strategy at Dormitory: Students must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, recovery from COVID-19 infection, or that they have taken a PCR test within 72 hours or a rapid antigen test (RAT) within 24 hours with a negative result. Unvaccinated students must take an RT-PCR test for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with a negative result, every 7 days.

In-person class meetings and lectures will be held at the campus of our academic partner Anglo American University. TFAS will follow all guidelines outlined in  Anglo American University’s (AAU) Coronavirus Guidelines and Information Page. AAU’s safety strategies include: 

  • Face Coverings: All faculty, staff, students, guests, vendors, and visitors must wear face coverings in indoor spaces, though not during class if seated or teaching and fully vaccinated. 
  • COVID Testing Strategy at Dormitory: Students must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, recovery from COVID-19 infection, or that they have taken a PCR test within 72 hours or a rapid antigen test (RAT) within 24 hours with a negative result. Unvaccinated students must take an RT-PCR test for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with a negative result, every 7 days. 
  • Additional Measures: Every person entering the AAU campus is expected to use hand sanitizer from one of the hand sanitizer stations placed on campus. Visitors are also expected to wear an N95 facemask in indoor spaces.
